I have often wondered if your position is not the best position to take.
The scripture says "Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind"
which I will frankly tell you, I am not fully persuaded that my position
is the best (on celebrating holidays, but I am not persuaded that it is
not either.) As I said, we do not have a Christmas tree and I feel very
good about that. We've recieved quite a bit of flack over that one!

I am writing because I have a few questions concerning this issue (for
you and/or others who do not celebrate these holidays).

1. Is this a stand your church takes or have you taken it on your own?
***
After the Lord spoke to us in church that December, that was it for me, I only partake of the church services, and meeting my extended family at their home for dinner at their request. It made them happy to give me a gift, but next that's it.
***
2. Is your extended family in church?

***My only extended family in church are two sisters, my mother,my son and and a neice. the ones at the dinner are not
***

3. Do you have children? How have they done concerning it?
****My son, seem to accept the decision that I have taken, he loves to voice his opinion, but he has been silent****

4. How has your stand affected your walk with God and your relations with
others?
****I feel more determined and less loaded when I enter His presence. I am not guilty of spending money foolishly. Someone in church was very upset with me when I told her family about the christmas thing, I was accused of trying to take away something that she and her family have been doing for so long. A lot of people in church feels the same as I do.****

5. Anything else you can tell me would be appreciated.

*** In Jamiaca, the UPC doesnt celebrate it, we have a christmas service for the unsaved, because that's the only time some of them come to church, there were so many visitors, we had to stand and its a big church.
But we have a year end banquet for singles and married folks. We dont have holloween there either, easter is not much celebrated in or outside of the church. Most of these pagan holidays, are celebrated here in the USA.
And I am surprised to see how much the churches participated in them here.

I don't think I can think of one person I know of that doesn't celebrate
these holidays. One reason I have come to the conclusions I have is
because I know of some groups (have some literature) of some who do not
practice these holidays and they seemed pretty sour about life in
general, but that has been my only exposure. I am interested in your
experiences!!

Lord bless you,

Lynne Yohnk
