Lynne Asked:

Do you have other scriptures to show where they perhaps kept the

***Sis Veniece respond

I find this very interesting and exciting, I myself am interested in celebration the passover this year, with a very special visitation of the Holy Ghost. I pray that God will have mercy on us and grant us this desire of our hearts for His church. Thank you brother Turner from you information.

That's an excellent question Lynne. How and what it means to "keep
the Passover" determines my answer to your question. If "Keeping the
Passover" means observing the Law of Moses by sacrificing animals from
year to year, then no. They did not keep the Passover in that sense.

You no doubt have heard of the Council of Nicea which convened in
325AD. Among other things accomplished at Nicea,..... they changed
the of observing the Lord's death and resurrection to make it
correspond with the pagan holiday called Easter. It's a matter of
History.

New Testament Christianity is Judaism extended. The foundation of the
Old Testament (Judaism) pours meaning into the New, that is otherwise
lost on heathen gentiles like you and I. (well, I'm not sure about
you, but I AM a heathen Gentile...lol)

You already likely observe the Passover in an aloof sense, and don't
realize it. It's probably because the foundational teaching is
missing. Most christians call it communion. Observance of the actual
day of Passover is entirely optional for you and I. We are commanded
however, to shew the Lords DEATH till He come by communion. What
better day to do it on, than the actual day the real thing happened?
It can be a great deal of fun, and also serve to make the reality of
the situation "sink in". Your participation on the actual night of
the Lord's betrayal is optional for once, and is up to you
how far you go with it. Isn't that just like our Lord?

The disciples kept the Passover with the Lord Jesus. It was against
the backdrop of Passover that He instituted the Lords supper.
(Mt26:17-29) (Mk 14:16-25) (Lu22)

Paul recommended keeping the Passover to the gentile Corinthians:
"....For even Christ our PASSOVER is sacrificed for us: Therefore let
us keep the feast,....." I Cor. 5:7-8 (note the suggestion that
there's a new way of keeping the feast, ....that's because the
sacrifice on Calvary had been made once and for all time)

Paul kept the Passover himself: "....I must by all means Keep this
FEAST that cometh in Jerusalem.. .." Acts 18:21 KJV

Rather than my spending a great deal more time on this, you may want
to reference what our Messianic friends have to say about it at:

I have no illusions that we are under a commandment to keep a Jewish
Passover Seder. Seder's can be interesting and quite educational,
even though much of it is tradition. I should point out that it is
100% more Bible based than "other replacements".... which teach
nothing of the ancient scriptures. Our personal choice is to trim
the Seder to what I could call a gentile rendition of it, with the
bread and the wine as the basic elements of communion, plus the
recounting of the story on the night it occurred. You may want to do
more, or less. :) One thing I will nearly guarantee you: you will
never see communion quite the same again! :)

Most apostolic saints in my acquaintance have not ventured to try
communion outside of the traditional church setting, but I assure you,
the rewards are commensurate with what you put into it in the special
preparation in private.

In 1993, our youth group went quite a distance in preparing the
(Passover) table, meal, and our own "liturgy" in a sense. But what
really got exciting was our prayer meeting afterwards when the Lord
showed up in a MASSIVE way. It really was a notable visitation from
the Lord that blew through our youth group. Kids were filled with the
Holy Ghost, for we heard them speak with tongues and magnify God in a
powerful way.
These kids absolutely went beserk for Jesus. They were all over the
place. Some of them are still talking about it. The spirit of the
Ancient of Days literally blew though our youth meeting that night in
a way that cannot be described.

By the way, I think the night of our Lord's betrayal (and the rest of
the story...) this year is Thursday, April 1st, 1999.

In your service and Shalom,

Glenn Turner
