A WAY OF ESCAPE
I Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
Isn't it wonderful that God has promised to make a way of escape in each
trial He allows to come our way?
We sometimes are surprised by the means of God's choosing, but it is
always there, if we will but look for it. Too often we fasten our attention
on circumstances, and become confused, but God's means of escape is always
there if we could but wait for it.
Once, God used a man with an ox goad (Jud 3:31). Once god used a man with
the jaw bone of an ass (Jud 15:15). In each case, it was the Hand of God
using the man to make a way of escape.
When Abram and Sarah brought Hagar into the equation, they compounded the
problem. We are still struggling with what they created when they devised
their own "escape route."
When David was with the sheep, a lion grabbed an animal. But God created
a way of escape by putting His Spirit on the shepherd lad and gave him the
ability to slay the lion. Likewise with the bear. A boy with no conventional
weapons, was learning to depend upon the anointing of God in difficult
circumstances.
David did not know what he was getting into the day he met Goliath, any
more than he had been expecting the lion and the bear, but his experiences
with them gave him confidence in this hour of confrontation.
What he had done while no one was looking would now be done before the
eyes of the multitude.
God was providing an escape route for Saul and Israel through a shepherd
lad with a sling shot and some smooth stones-- AND THE NAME OF THE GOD OF
ISRAEL.
Look for God's way of escape. Wait for His route.
If we choose other routs than what God has provided, we get into deep
trouble.
Psalms 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation [is] from
him.
