" Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us
free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Gal 5:1
We are free in Jesus Christ. This is a wonderful freedom we have in Him.
We experience a liberty in Jesus Christ that cannot be experienced
anywhere else in the world. However, on this path of liberty, we are
often met with choices to make. How are we going to make these choices?
What will we do with our lives? What will we do with this freedom and
liberty so wonderfully bestowed upon us by our Lord Jesus Christ? How
will we know that we are making the correct choices?
Gal 1:5 says that we need to stand fast in this liberty and not be
entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
We, as people, have a strange tendency to be comfortable where we are at.
I have been seeing a chiropractor for the first time in my life. The
first time she worked on me, I felt strange afterwards. My back felt
terribly straight. I was uncomfortable, even though my back was in it's
rightful position. I had been so long in a wrong position that right felt
wrong. Then, after being straight for a couple days, my back popped. It
felt good. I went back to the old way. But then I started hurting. The
second time I went to the chiropractor, she straightened my back and it
felt right. Why? Because I was getting used to it.
We can't always rely on what *feels* right. How will we know what is
right? There is a standard. Just like the chiropractor straightened my
back to the correct standard, we need to straighten ourselves to the
Biblical standard that God has laid forth in His Word. We cannot know for
ourselves if it is right when we only go by feelings, because right
doesn't always *feel* right. We walk by faith and not by sight. God will
use His Word, the standard, to lead us. We can *know* His standard is
right and true. God will use authority as well, but it is up to us to
make sure that the authority preaches the Word of God. (The Bible tells
us to know them which labor among us.)
Sometimes we go through a dark period of searching. We go through our own
"wilderness experience" just as the children of Israel did. We have
instructions on what do do when we don't know what to do.
" Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine
heart: wait , I say , on the LORD." Psalm 27:14
We are people. We are not always strong. We cannot always be on the
mountain top. The Lord knows this and has instructed us that when we need
strength to wait on Him. The Bible says that *He* will strengthen our
heart. We don't have to do it ourselves. Our instruction is to wait on
the Lord.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek , and
ye shall find ; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For
every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to
him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Luke 11:9-11
We are also told to *ask* and it *shall* be given. *Seek* and ye *shall*
find. *Knock* and it *shall* be opened. For **everyone** that asketh
*recieveth* and he that *seeketh*, *findeth* and to him that *knocks* it
*shall* be opened. How wonderful is this gospel and how wonderful is the
God in whom we can place our trust!!
" But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they
shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
They that wait *shall* renew their strength! Are you tired? Wait on the
Lord, and soon you will mount up with wings as an eagle. You will run and
not be weary. You will walk and not faint.
