I was in college (early 80's) when I first heard about the "recordings
from hell" at that time it was from a 36000 foot deep hole around Fort
Stockton Texas. Then later it was repeated from the Russian hole in the
mid 80's. I know a guy that was on the rig (as a Drilling engineer) in
Texas and he told me that there was no "hole" or recordings. He told me
some guys were talking that if they went much further they would tap
into hell as a joke....seems that some carried it further!
