Brother Adam,

<snip>

>So, here comes my topic for discussion...Should there be humor in Pentecost?

In my humble opinion, humour and laughter are desirable and necessary for
life. Even if we separate JOY and HUMOUR, I still see need for both. Now
Humour is not in the KJV, but LAUGHTER is: Ps 126:2 and Ecc10:19 present
laughter in a positive light. And not to forget Prov 17:22, "A merry heart
doeth good like a medicine...".

As someone who has a constant sense of humour I would vote in favour of
jokes in any situation where seriousness is not required. My girlfriend has
finally started getting used to my sense of humour and now only when she
really has to have me be sensible, does she tell me to stop kidding about.
She is a naturally serious sort, but is learning to enjoy a little humour.
As I told her, if I can't enjoy serving the Lord, what can I enjoy?

>I understand the need for joy in Pentecost, but do we really need levity and
>humor? My stand on this argument is that Joy is from God and Humor is of

Remember, brother, that the Devil has always twisted gifts and blessings
from the Lord. Take marital sex for example. This is a joyous and innocent
gift from the Lord, but the Devil has twisted it and used it in the world to
the extent that some Christians now feel guilty if they enjoy it. (Not
trying to start a new thread, honest! :-) I believe that the Devil has been
successful at twisting humour, but I'm sure not going to give up laughing
because of it.

>the Devil. Any rebuttals?

I really hope that this does not come across as a rebuttal, but more of an
encouragement to let some of your joy unspeakable shine through now and
then! :-)

In Christ,

Bro. Simon
