When we were discussing the mark of the beast recently, I said that my
supervisor told me we would get new badges with a computer chip to be able
to get into buildings. Here is an article in one of our Newsletters which
sounds like what she was talking about.

Video Badges on the Way!

New video security badges are coming soon. The intial issue will be at the
Dental Branch and only for employees and students of that building. Other
areas of the UTH-HSC system will be notified prior to the implementation of
the new system. The new card will have advantages over the older ones.
For students, it will serve as a 3 in 1 card in that it can be used as an
identification card, a security access card, and a library card. For
faculty/staff, it is a 2 in 1 card for the purpose of identification and
security access.

For employees and students of the Dental Brance, new video badges will be
issued from May 15, 1996 until June 15, 1996. Please contact your DMO for
scheduling. The first card is free of charge; beyond that there is a $10
replacement fee. For other members of the UTH-HSC community, please
anticipate future announcements concerning the issuance of your cards.

Interesting! Anybody ever heard the term "video badges"?
