BTW: a block heater does not circulate the oil; it heats and circulates
the cooling water in the water jacket around the block.

Whew! I was starting to get scared! :)
Although my preference is circulating water heaters, I do have a couple of
block heaters on my vehicles. Something worth noting is that on some engine
blocks, there is a strong possibility of cracking around the heater. This
is from the temperature change of a very cold engine and the heat generated
from plugging in the heater. Also, for the larger engines, you might
consider a block heater on both side of the engine. Some "experts" advise
leaving vehicles plugged in year round!
God bless!
