Depression

Regarding your depressed student and what you can do:

First, (after you have prayed, of course), learn about depression.
Since you are on the net, I presume you have WWW access.  Search for
depression, preferably in the indexes.  There is a lot of good medical
and support information out there.  The more you know about the
disease (yes, it is a medically treatabl;e disease, which means God
can heal it like any other disease), the better equiped you will be to
help Derek and his parents (and yourself) deal with the problem.  I
have been involved with helping 2 people in a similar situation in the
past year, although they were both adults.  One of them is doing quite
well now, and the other one is still having a hard time.
