Hezekiah's prayer

In Isaiah 38, Hezekiah is told by the prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, that the Lord says for
him to put his house in order, because he was going to die. Hezekiah turned his face to a
wall and prayed to the Lord..

"Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with
wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes."

Hezekiah went on to weep bitterly. Then the Lord came to Isaiah telling him to tell
Hezekiah that He had heard his prayers and seen his tears, that He will add 15 years to his
life. To prove that He would keep his words, the Lord casted a shadow on the steps of
the stairway of Ahaz and made it go back the ten steps that it had gone down.

After Hezekiah's illness and recovery, he wrote these words...

"In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the
rest of my years? I will not again see the Lord, the Lord, in the land of the living; no
longer will I look on mankind, or be with those who dwell on this world. Like a
sheperd's tent my house had been pulled down and taken from me. Like a weaver I
have rolled up my life, and he has cut me off from the loom; day and night you made
and end to me. I waited patiently until dawn, but like a lion he broke all of my
bones; day and night you made an end to me. I cried like a swift or thrush, I
moaned like a mourning dove, My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens. I am
troubled; O Lord, come to my aid!

After all of Isaiah's words, Hezekiah prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered him by
adding years to his life. What faith Hezekiah had to have in order to receive such a
blessing. He could of easily gave up on his life and sat down and died. Hezekiah did just
the opposite though..being that he was following the Lord's command, Hezekiah knew
that the Lord would listen to him.

In today's world it is easy to hear all those around us talking. They say many things about
how we are crazy people, followers of a cult, liars and false prophets. What we as
followers of the Lord need to do is remind ourselves that we are God's people and He will
hear our cry. If we pray to the Lord, he will answer! It is time like these that we don't
give up! We have an awesome power on our side and nothing of this carnal world will
stop us! Philippians 4:13 says.."I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
Oh how very true that is today! With God on our side, who can be against us?

If something has you down, whether it be someone telling you it can't be done or maybe
even a life threatening illness like Hezekiah had, you need to go to the Lord and pray
with all your heart and sincerity, then and only then will the Lord listen to you and
answer your prayers!
