Bro RJ Brown, spake:

BrRJB> Then how, with respect to the original quote from Ezekiel, do we get
BrRJB> baptism when Ezekiel said "sprinkle" (admitting that it was Hebrew,
BrRJB> not Greek there)?

I had to look up the Ezekiel passage in the WWW Bible Gateway. For everybody
else's benefit, that hasn't looked it up, here it is:

EZE 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall
be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your
          idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will
I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart
out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and
          do them.

I don't have a Strongs to look at right now. From what I remember, the
RANTIZO of the greek sprinkle, also is used in when "filling", "pouring",
etc. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that in the NT when someone was
filled with the Holy Ghost, that they were RANTIZO'd with the Holy Ghost.
Or that the Holy Ghost was RANTIZO'd out onto them.

I'm not so sure that vs 25 above is in reference to the NT concept of
"remission of sins". I may be wrong. Maybe someone out there in net-land
can look up "sprinkle" and "water" to find out if it translates exactly
to what is scribed. I'd surely like to know.
