I know I am probably jumping into the middle of something since I
have not had time to read much lately.  Something I do know is that
the ashes of the last red heifer sacrificed are very important to
the Jews.  Since the appointed person to be High Priest must be
announted with these ashes before he can become the High Priest and
since the sacrifices can not be made by anyone but the High Priest,
the ashes are the "key" so to speak to the Jews resuming their old
ways.
