                 ******* CHOICES ***********
Someone has said that death and taxes are the two things in our lives that
are certain. They were correct, as far as they went, but there is at least
one other aspect of our lives that is inescapable.
Every day we live, we are faced with decisions. Choices have to be made.
Some of them are simple, involving little or no deliberation on our part.
Others are more complicated, and cause us more concern when making them.
Whether large or simple, EVERY CHOICE WE MAKE IS FOLLOWED BY ITS OWN
CONSEQUENCES. This is also an INESCAPABLE FACT OF LIFE. We choose, we reap.
We choose, we reap. Often we do not like the consequences of our choices,
but they are immutable. Once a choice has been made, and acted upon, the
consequences follow, as night follows day. We benefit from good choices, we
suffer from bad ones.
This is especially true in our relationship to God and His Word. The
Bible has some "but if" clauses that deserve more attention than a great many
of us are giving to them.
Ex 23:22 tells us,"But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all
that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary
unto thine adversaries."
There is a solemn warning in the 26th chapter of Leviticus. Vs. 3 tells
us that IF YE WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS-- BUT IF (vs 14)
ye will NOT HARKEN unto me--I WILL (vs 16) DO THIS UNTO YOU, I will even
appoint over you terror, consumption,---and CAUSE SORROW OF HEART, and ye
shall sow your seed in vain--.
There is so much needless sorrow in the world today, resulting from a
choice, or series of choices we have made back up the line some where. We
were not aware of the fact we were choosing sorrow when we made those choices
of instant gratification of our wishes and desires. The "path of the least
resistance" is actually the "way of the transgressor is hard".
