I can site several instances in scripture where Violence was used to
defend, Including where Jesus was arrested and Peter pulled out his
sword and cut off the ear. (he was carrying a weapon and I doubt he had
previously concealed it from the Lord.)
Steven thinks,
Luke 22:38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he
said unto them, It is enough.
Luke 22:39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of
Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that
ye enter not into temptation.
The Swords were there, this is one side, the command to pray was there,
When we realize that prayer will keep us from entering into temptation,
when we pray we will be able to take the way of escape.
1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above
that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
There will be a "way to escape" even if someone was minded to harm you,
we must remember that:
"all things"
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
