No, you can't run *ALL* the MS stuff, but there is good Unix stuff
available for fre with sources, so you know what you are running.
Many of these programs are better than the MS stuff. The biggest
barrier to free software is advertising. Gates et al spend over 50%
of gross revenues on advertising. Free software could do the same and
still not be able to afford an add in a local school newspaper, sincew
50% of zero is still zero. Most people buy MS because they have heard
about it so much, and heard about no alternative. This is not because
there is no alternative, but because free stuff has no advertising
budjet. We face the same problem trying to reach the world with the
gospel message. People also inherently distrust something that is for
free, since they figure there has got to be a gotcha somewhere. Jesus
paid it all in advance, and we still have trouble giving it away.
Same for free software.

There is a package called dosemu. It is a DOS emulator, like running
DOS under O/S-2. I use it to run the Online Bible program, which I
want to convert to HTML and CGI scripts, but no time yet. I use DOS
for nothing else.

There is also a package called WINE, for WINdoze Emulator. I have not
tried it, since I have no need to.

Well, a 1.2 gig drive for IDE (yech! I like SCSI) is under $200
nowdays. Only 3 years ago I paid almost $2000 for one, so the price
is coming down. The good news is you can easily run Linux on 300 MB
of disk and 16 MB of RAM, although you can get it to run with 8 MB
RAM, it runs much better with 16. Windoze95 wants 32 MB to run well,
but will limp on 16.

Also, Linux is true multiuser, so you can plug terminals into serial
ports and have several people using the computer at the same time.
