Mark of the Beast

Pastor Dan,
I have been re-reading your webpage concerning the
mark of the beast. I have many questions but I will only
address a few here.
1. You speak many times about numbers meaning something.
"The number of man is six." I am quite familiar with the theory
of numerology and the Bible. Such as 'seven is the number
of completion', '12 is God's number of ...', '40 indicates this in
the scriptures' etc. As near as I can see, there is
only one place in the scriptures where a number is actually
said to signify something. That happens to be Rev 13:18.
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding
count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man;
and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
Revelation 13:18 (KJV)
This verse clearly says it is the number of **A** man,
not 'of man'. I understand the reasoning throughout the
numerology thing. 'Man was created on the sixth day,
therefore six is the number of man' and so forth and so on.
However, unless there is direct scriptural evidence to
support a proposition such as this, I see little reason to
base a system of belief on it.
2. If the mark of the beast is symbolic why does Rev 13:16
say that no man would be able to buy or sell unless they
have the mark. I did not see any reference to this in you
literature. If the mark is the sign of the cross, how can this
prevent you from buying or selling? If the mark of the beast
were the sign of the cross (trinity), the psuedo-church would
have to control commerce in order to prevent those who
would not make the sign from buying and/or selling. That
would require a more literal interpretation.
3. If the mark of the beast is the sign of the cross, then I
previously took that mark (along with Catholic (psuedo)-
baptism and confirmation). I was raised a Catholic and
performed all the rituals mentioned in your article
(except taking 'Holy Orders', 'Matrimony' and 'Last Rites').
I have prayed all those prayers and prayed and worshipped
Mary. I was devout. I have innumerable times made the
sign of the cross. Does that mean I am lost? Rev 14:11
states that the smoke of those who received the mark
would ascend up for ever and ever. Therefore, if the
mark is the sign of the cross or trinity, then I would have
already have taken this mark (though I have since rejected
the trinity).
Thank you in advance for your answers.
