These quotes remind me of the last time I was in a court of law:
A psychiatrist, a lawyer, and I were discussing what could be done to help a
young man who had repeatedly been in trouble with the law for minor offenses.
When I suggested that he receive Pastoral Counseling (not from me),
The psychiatrist arrogantly answered, " I thought you wanted to help him!!"
Later, in the courtroom, when I refused to be "sworn in":
James 5:12
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither
by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your
nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
(KJV)
The court had me "affirm" to tell the truth under threat of "penalty of the
law."
The psychiatrist, who had no problem swearing (I believe he is an atheist),
swore to tell the truth, "so help him God".
This to me shows the ignorance in our court system today:
To the man who fears not God, they threaten him with God,
To the man who believes
Luke 12:4-5
4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body,
and after that have no more that they can do.
5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath
killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
(KJV)
they threaten him with the law.
