It all depends upon to whom one is attempting to witness.  :-)

The very image of "holy rollers is hicks" will help you reach the
hicks, and is a technique that can be profitably used, but the same
approach will bring reproach and turn off many of the professionals I
work with every day.  On the other hand, they will reconsider their
preconceived notions of Pentecostalism when they find out that a
fellow professional of theirs is not only a holy roller, but a
preacher as well.  

I am presently building a relationship with a man who is both an
accomplished engineer and mamager, and is also a devout Jew and Hebrew
scholar.  I would never reach him with the "just plain fo'k" aproach,
but he is very interested in my ability to show him that Jesus is
indeed the Messiah by using Old Testament scriptures.  We were talking
about Peter's quote of Joel in the seminal sermon on the day of
Pentecost, and this man immediatly clicked his mouse a few times and
the Hebrew text of the passage was on his screen.  He examined the
Hebrew to make sure I was on the level in my interpretation, and then
admitted that I certainly had a point worth considering.

My wife and I will probably visit his synagogue in the near future,
and I expect he will visit our church.  Please pray for this man.  His
name is Ben.  The door to this man was opened because of mutual
respect.  I was like him -- "just a plain old nerd" (to paraphrase you) --
to get him to listen to me.
