A few thoughts concerning the topics mentioned in a few
previous posts:

Perhaps. Consider the following verses.

"And the building of the wall of it was of jasper:
and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass."
Revelation 21:18

"And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every
several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the
city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass."
Revelation 21:21

"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming
down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride
adorned for her husband." Revelation 21:2

"And there came unto me one of the seven angels
which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues,
and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show
thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." Revelation 21:9

"And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and
high mountain, and showed me that great city, the
holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,"
Revelation 21:10

Do we perhaps read verses 18 and 21 of Revelation 21 and
miss the significance of verses 2, 9, and 10? The city is
the bride, the Lamb's wife. John was told he would be shown
the bride who was the Lamb's wife. Then he was shown the
city (which we commonly refer to as Heaven or New Jerusalem).
The city is the bride. No interpretation, fact.

Now about those mansions...mentioned only once in the
whole bible.

"In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you." John 14:2

mansion = 3438. mone, mon-ay'; from G3306; a staying,
i.e. residence (the act or the place):--abode, mansion.

Simply a prepared place, an abode. Yes, it could be
called a mansion, [note: personally, I don't want a
mansion unless it comes with a few housekeepers] but
consider what Jesus goes on to say in verse 23 of that
same chapter in John.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love
me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love
him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode
with him." John 14:23

Right this very minute I am the mansion of Jesus Christ. He
abides with me. The word abode is the same as the mansion
in verse 2.

Personally, I expect much more of God than a physical
manifestation of riches such as streets of gold. I am most
concerned with being with Jesus:

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also." John 14:3

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not
yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he
shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see
him as he is." 1 John 3:2

We are now the sons of God (requiring physical manifestations
to house us), but it doesn't even appear yet what we shall be
like then. All we know is that we will be like Him [God].

"Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples
made with hands; as saith the prophet," Acts 7:48

If God doesn't dwell in physical things, why would we when
we become like Him?
