Bro. Copes:
> I suspect that there are both spiritual and physical
aspect to this place.

Me:
Just as there is a Spiritual and physical aspect to the
resurrected Jesus.

Bro. Copes:
John apparently described what he saw and experienced.
However, he did it within the confines of his concepts and
experience. For instance, there is no physical evidence of
which I am aware that gold in the thickness implied by
Scripture is ever transparent.

Me:
I don't think he is refering to the transparency of the
glass but to the PURITY. In John's day, to get clear glass
was a very LABORIOUS task of sifting and sifting and
sifting again and again. After the sifting process you
then heated the mixture and skimmed the dross from the top.
A very good example of purity or "refinement."

Gold is also the symbol for royalty and we will be
"walking" on it.

Bro. Copes:
> Paul tells us that we do not know exactly what we
will be like but that we will be like Him. We know that
after the His resurrection that Jesus had a physical body
which could be touched. (There were other important
attributes as well.) He cooked fish and invited the
disciples to eat. This is clearly physical activity.

 Me:
Right!

Bro. Copes:
> Physical bodies imply physical habitation needs. The
city comes down to earth. Why? If it is purely spiritual
why the need to come down to a physical earth?

Me:
This is the part that I just cannot understand. It is this
notion that the things in the Revelation are ***EITHER***
Spiritual ***OR*** literal. Why CAN'T they be BOTH? (in
some/most cases). (Not implying that you suffer from this
Bro. Copes :^)

Jesus was BOTH Spiritual AND physical. We don't know the
full implications of this but as stated above we know that
we will be like Him: Spiritual AND physical.
