I AM TIRED OF PEOPLE WHO PREACH EASY BELIEVISM!!!!
I have a friend who I have known since junior high school, (about 13
years). He is of baptist influence, but never even talks about God. The
heart of my frustrations lie within people like his dad.
The last five years or so I have been doing odd jobs for Bob, (the dad). I
received the Holy Ghost and was baptized nearly three years ago. So the
last three years I have been trying to be the best witness I can.
Tonight I was doing some work for him and before I left we started talking
about church.
The conversation started out as small talk like: still goin' to church,
blah blah blah.
Usually the conversation ends right about here but it took a curious turn
that I had to question. He said that his friend from highschool was a
preacher at a local church. I know the place and have met the man
personally. The only reason I was at that church is I gave my word to
another friend, (Todd), that if he would come to my service I would go to
one of his. Bad choice. Really dead atmosphere. At the end of the
service he introduced me to that pastor. I said, "praise the Lord." He
said "hi how are you."
I tried three times to get that man to say praise the Lord but he would
not. I was very distraught.
Anyway back to the subject! He, (Bob), told me that the pastor there was
having revival and invited Bob to attend, so he did. I had to ask what
kind of 'revival' did they have. He said that there was no music, (maybe
that meant no worship service), just some preaching. I just looked at him.
Then he said, of course people came up and were saved. I said, oh really.
He said they came up and accepted Christ as their personal savior and
we're saved. AAAAAARRRRRGGGHH!! So many times have I been hit with that
by people.
Then he asked me, what kind of revivals do you see? So I took the
opportuninty. I told him first of all we preach Acts 2:38 and then I
recited it to him. Now, he is getting a little nervous and goes off to
some sort of tangent. I further tell him that the gifts of the Spirit are
present. Now he looks with disbelief but tells me that it is possible. He
then tells me that, (and reassures me that he is not blowing his own
whistle), he probably prays more than anyone. HA! So I continue further
down the avenues he keeps leading me through. I tell him, not to blow a
horn, that I have once interpreted a message that was spoken in tongues.
Wow, that hit him like a train. Disbelieving he says, how do you know
that is what God wanted you to say? How does one answer that one?
It is people like this who I get frustrated with. How does one witness to
one that is a victim of easy believism. And for those who do not know what
that means, here is an example. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, he
gave his only begotten son and whosoever believeth in him shall not perish
but have everlasting life." I believe in this scripture, but easybelievism
people stop here. They think that they don't need Holy Ghost or Baptism,
let alone in Jesus name.
I know I'm not the only one out there that has come across people like Bob.
I would appreciate your reply's, your suggestions, your personal
testimonies, and most of all your prayers for me to witness better and for
Bob to have the truth revealed to him..

Thank you for reading and God Bless You
