As a former AT&T customer I can tell my personal experience.
When we switched to our local phone service provider's long distance
service two months ago we had a pleasant surprise. Our phone bill which
normally ran 250 - 300 was nearly cut in half. The first month's bill
was about 135. Of course AT&T has tried hard to get us back. Just
yeaterday (5-21-97) they called again asking us to come back. I pointed
out the savings and said even greater than the savings we do not support
the so-called 'gay rights' and would not switch back to a company that
did. The lady agreed that AT&T had supported the 'gay games' but said
they only offered long distance service to them. She _was_ very familiar
with the issue and said it came up often in calls like ours.
