Jer 3:15
15	And *I* will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed
you with knowledge and understanding.
(KJV)

Pastors should never give advice based on their own opinions, but should
speak to us the words of knowledge and understanding as given to them by God.
Neither should the pastor give his own personal approval or disapproval.

<<God is the One who *oversees* my life.>>

Of course He does, but He has entrusted the job of overseer to the pastors.

1 Pet 5:2
2	Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the *oversight* thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
(KJV)

My pastor *watches out for me* and
warns me and preaches to me and gives me advice.
My pastor has to *give an account*, yes, of the way he treated me and
warned me, he is not responsible for me and cannot save me. Only GOD can
save me and I am responsible for myself.
  >>

Heb 13:17
17	*Obey* them that have the rule over you, and *submit* yourselves: for they
*watch for your souls*, as they that must *give account*, that they may do it
with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
(KJV)

When the entire thought of the pastor's job description here is taken *in
context*, it appears to include our responsibility also, to be obedient and
submissive to "them that have the rule over us". Having him watch for us is
OK, but when we have to submit to the man of God, and be obedient to him....
This is extremely difficult for anyone who has doubts that God has given them
their pastor "after His own heart".

Remember, even pastors have pastors.
