In a *extremely* long discussion I had on CHRISTIA (bit.listserv.christia)
last year (or maybe earlier) with a gentleman named a man named Ronnie, he
didn't deny baptism in Jesus name, and he didn't even dispute the need for
the Holy Ghost. What he did adhere to was the fact that the *laying on of
the hands* transferred the powers of *gift of miracles* from the apostles to
whomever. Aaaaaaaand since there's no more apostles these days, then there's
no more miracles or people to lay hands upon....

It absolutely *got my HG dander up* that these kinds of statements were being
made. I knew what I saw during service! I've seen the *signs follow them that
believe* (Mark 16), speaking in tongues, healing the sick, etc. As far as
there being *apostles*, God still appoints them, man just might not accept
them in their organizations.

I argued (logical discussion) and argued (made an argument) with him for weeks
in an open forum... but he wasn't even willing to even *consider* what I was
delivering to him. It was myself and another gentleman from Australia that
was working together (for a while - until the australian had to leave) to show
Ronnie of Christia explicitly what happened in Acts 2, 8, 10, & 19... but to
no avail.

People *BELIEVE* what they perceive is the TRUTH. If God doesn't open them
up to the REAL TRUTH, they'll simply not believe. If they aren't willing to
hear from the Lord, they'll just stay a stick in the mud. What does the
scripture say about someone accepting your words: "If they don't accept the
words with gladness, leave the town and shake the dust off your feet."
(Bro. Tyler's paraphrase). How much time is wasted going over and over and
over something when it falls on deaf ears or muted hearts? Sometimes it's
time to
move on. I'd just about bet that if I totalled up all of the hours composing
responses to Ronnie, it'd be in the neighborhood of 80-120 hours of time
gathering scripture, sculpting words, phrases, and sentences so that what
was written couldn't be taken out of context and misunderstood. I didn't
attempt to pound him over the head with scripture to beat it into him, just
a careful methodical means to bring truth to him.... but he wasn't willing.
