You:
> I have looked at the following Bibles and translations:
> Scofield(1909), Dakes annotated,Amplified,Darby,
NKJV,NIV,Worrell,Youngs,ASV,NASB,NEB,Beck,RSV,NRSV,
NJB,NCS,Phillips, and the CEV. I neither find *forehead*
italicised, footnoted, or questioned in any way. I can
find no reason to question this word or to doubt that it
should be in this verse.
Me:
I have looked and looked and cannot find that reference.
In light of this I will of course have to go with the
greater weight of evidence. It seems to me that if all of
these other translations have the word it is in at least
some of the more reliable manuscripts and therefore concede
my error.
You:
If someone has more information let me know as I would
interested in examining it.
Me:
Me too. I'll look a little while longer but don't hold
much hope since I have very nice tools for search (until
the beta period runs out).
Hey about "scare tactics." When it comes to the mark of
the beast it is the accepting of the mark with the knowlege
of what it means. I am a pretribber and this means that
there is no way a saint will ever be offered the mark. The
passage says that the Beast arranges that whoever would not
receive the mark should be killed, it doesn't say that
"any" will refuse. The only ones we know for "sure" that
will not take the mark is the 144,000 since they are
"saved" and those who receive the mark are damned.
