REMEMBER NOT THE SINS OF MY YOUTH

David prayed one day-- perhaps many days-- that the Lord would not
remember some of the things he had done while he was a child.

Psalms 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions:
according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.

Childhood and youth are a very treacherous time for human beings.
Often, we lack a proper "sense of direction" and a "balance of
discretion", and if left to ourselves will make some very serious
mistakes. Some of those youthful mistakes can mar our future to such an
extent that we can never fully enjoy what life has to give us.

Ecclesiastes 11:10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away
evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth [are] vanity.

Job, in his time of trial, did what most of us would do-- took inventory
of his life-- especially his youth-- fearing that some foolish, seemingly
harmless, prank was returning to collect its "pound of flesh."

Job 13:26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to
possess the iniquities of my youth.

Job's comforters joined in the chorus, and told him to examine his
past, for there was surely something from his past that was causing his
dilemna. It certainly CAN HAPPEN.

Job 20:11 His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie
down with him in the dust.

The smartest man that ever lived cautions us to beware of some of the
impulses of youth, lest we live to regret our bad attitude toward our
instructors (parents) and the advice and discipline they give us in our
"formative years."

Proverbs 5:11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are
consumed, And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised
reproof; And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine
ear to them that instructed me!

If we are being "stalked by our past", there is one hope. David knew
about that hope. He said, "It may be that He will show mercy."

Repentance is the key. Though we may carry scars in our body and
memory, it may be that the Lord will show us mercy, and remove the blots
from our souls, if we thoroughly repent and try to rectify what harm we
may have done.

Isaiah 64:9 Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity
for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee--.

Jeremiah 31:19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after
that I was instructed, I smote upon [my] thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even
confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

There is hope in Jesus. Run to Him now-- pour it all out before Him. IT
MAY BE--

Isaiah 43:25 I, [even] I, [am] he that blotteth out thy transgressions
for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
