Let's read the entire scripture people...lest we be like trinitarians!!
>> Where does it say in the Bible that ANYONE has been "put
>> over you" to oversee your ***LIFE***?
> How about: "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the
> oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre,
> but of a ready mind;" (1 Peter 5:2).
The scripture then goes on to say: "Neither as being lords over God's
heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
True, pastors are supposed to lead, admonish, and nurture the flock,
but is not to rule or govern every aspect of a persons life. That job is
left to the Holy Ghost to govern a persons lifestyle.
I've seen the extreme of pastors being "lords" over the flock, and it
isn't a healthy situation at all. Once that pastor leaves the scene, that
church will be filled with hundreds of spiritual invalids who have no clue
what they are supposed to do, or even how to let the Lord guide them.
