I do not quite understand how a saint of God can have the ability to discern
between wholesome and unwholesome when it comes to radio programs and music,
but does not have this same ability with respect to television. No flames,
please, this is a sincere question on my part. I am not a member of the UPC,
I have been a member of the PAW for the past 20 years.
Bro. Harvey:
<<Furthermore, because of the display of all these evils on television we
disapprove
of ANY of our people having television sets in their homes....

And they should have. If they do not wish to obey them that have the rule
over them, and submit themselves, they should not carry credentials from that
organization. This does not mean they left the Lord, but rather that they
left the organization. Many of God's anointed preachers do not carry a
license from the same organization. As an licensed and ordained minister of
the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, if I found myself unwilling to
follow their policies, I would have to surrender my credentials, or consider
myself disobedient toward God.
Bro Harvey:
<<Christians DO NOT watch TV. >>
Me:
Twenty years ago, I met a lady who was born at the turn of the century, and
had spent most of her life in the Pentecostal Church. A couple of the
standards of the church that she had been raised with were:
Christians DO NOT go to high school.(and obviously never to college)
White Christians DO NOT date or marry black Christians.
These ideas were held as fast as Christians not watching TV. Once again, a
sincere question.....why did these standards of holiness change, or by whose
authority?
Just a hypothetical question, if the organization takes a stance against the
internet, because of "all the evils that take place on it", and forbid their
members to have a connection to the internet, how many would take as hard a
stand as they have with television?
Bro. Harvey:
<<As to what I think of the TV Preachers…
Gal. 1:8 is clear. They are cursed. >>
Me:
If they preach another Gospel....of course. BUT, for those who preach
Repentance, Baptism in Jesus' name, being filled with the Holy Ghost, and
living a holy life...this scripture simply does not apply. And there are some
out there.
I, for one, am convinced that there is some good programming on television,
but you have to look to find it . In fact, I recently got a couple of looks
of disapproval when I gave my opinion of television (for the most part):
"Television is the thief of time".
Bro Mike, please do not consider any of my words to be flames....they are not
intended to be. I truly believe that if a person wants to be saved, having a
television will not stop him/her from this. And, if they really want to sin,
they won't need a television to do it.
