Question on who John saw on the throne

Is it possible here just as the beasts of Revelation are symbols, that this
vision of God is merely a symbol of the Deity and humanity of Jesus and how
they work together? Why do we make one portion of Rev. literal and the other
symbolic. Why couldn't both be symbolic? Just a thought.
