When the musicians take the platform (or whereever they are playing
their instruments) and they aren't *sensitive* to what God wants them
to play .... and they play anything they good and well want to ....
they are directly in opposition to the leading of the Spirit. If God
wanted to move, he couldn't do it because of the stiff-necked attitude
of the musicians which are already unbending to God's will. I don't
care what they clang and bang out, it maybe the prettiest gospel song
to come down the pike in years ... if they aren't playing that which
goes along with the leading of the Spirit they aren't playing unto
God ... but unto themselves and to the assembled crowd. It might be
a joyful noise.... not unto God.
You see, God can take just average talent that's *in-tune* with His
Spirit. Annoint it. Transforming that average talented performer
(normally) into a super-charged, high-power, running over with the
Spirit of God kind of service that God can use at that very moment
in time.
But, if they just clang and bang away, they are looking not to entertain
the presence of God .... they are looking out for themselves. They
make a show. Saints get caught up in the clanging and banging (that
doesn't follow the Spirit) and they manufacture a form of godliness.
I don't care how much effort ones self can put into it. If it's not
annointed, God's not in it.

I think that's generally true. I also realize that there are folks
that have positions and responsibilities to help aid in the worship
(like musicians, choirs, and song leaders, etc.) and if they don't
MAKE IT with God, there's most usually not much spark out in the
congregation to catch the whole church on fire. That isn't always
the case, but most usually.

O.k. How does one invite the Lord? Will he go anywhere?
