No quite!  In one case you are baptizing by *QUOTING* the formula; in
the other case, you are baptizing by *SOLVING* the formula.  The quote
presents a puzzle -- an well formed formula, or WFF, that must be
resolved with the set of support, or SOS, of the rest of the body of
scripture.  The resolution is completed by matching the clause "name
of the (father, son, holy ghost)" with the symbol "Jesus".  We then
substitute the pattern match back into the original WFF to get the
equivalent WFF "...in the name of Jesus".  Its a simple exercise in
first order predicate calculus.  QED

But in actuality, we could also understand this heuristicly by means
of the many examples of baptisms performed by the Apostles after the
day of Pentecost
