Anneliese writes:
What most Apostolics fail to realize is this: belief in the events of
the day of Pentecost does NOT necessitate a belief in the Oneness of God,
even if one embraces baptism in Jesus' name. Nowhere in the definition
(dictionary or history) of the word "Pentecostal" is there a reference
to belief in Oneness. The question NO ONE (but God) can answer is this: If a group preaches
obedience to Acts 2:38, yet does not believe in the Oneness of God,
are they "saved"?
Since it isn't our call, I don't think any of us have the right to
speculate.
I write:
I find nowhere in the Bible that you have to have the doctrine of the
Godhead figured out and understood to be saved. If this is so indeed
few are going to be saved. We are again copying the trinitarians who
say that to be saved you have to believe the trinity, some of us just
reverse it and return it to them by saying to be saved you have to
believe in the Oneness. To be saved you have to believe in the Lord
Jesus Christ. Receive him as Lord and Saviour. If somebody has
obeyed Acts 2:38 that is not sufficient for salvation? Are you never
saved, can you never give people hope of salvation? We keep adding
to the requirements of salvation until nobody will get saved, even in
danger of not being saved ourselves. Doesn't sound like good news to
me, which is what gospel means.
