Not Just The "Other" Pentecostals

YOU:
I refuse to believe that God has made salvation a game or a joke.
There
is nothing that needs to be solved in order to gain salvation...no
mystery
that needs to be revealed.
ME:
1Tm:3:16: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of
angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world,
received up into glory.
What if we didn't accept the mystery of godliness? Then, we
wouldn't beleive in Jesus and belief in Christ is nessesary to
repentance--and salvation.
Mk:4:11: And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the
mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all
these things are done in parables:
We MUST allow God to reveal the mystery of Christ. It is by
Christ alone that we can fathom by faith the wonderous mystery; that
God HIMSELF (Not a distinct person, equal in power) was robed in
flesh (the Son) and that God died upon the cross and was given up.
YOU:
We are saved by Grace through faith...nothing more, nothing less. To
state
that our salvation is through our ability to solve puzzles, and
interpret
biblical mysteries is simply a farce.
ME:
You seem to think these mysteries come by OUR realization. ARE YOU
KIDDING? :-) I was a baptist born and baptist bred and if it wasn't
for God I'd be baptist DEAD. I was sitting in 1st UPC listening to a
message that I had heard preached at that church for the past 2
months that I had been visiting. A junior preacher, Brother Terry,
preached that God is like my dad. He is a Father, a Son, and a
Husband. But my dad is ONE person. He has a name, and it isn't
father, son, or husband! Just like our heavenly father is one and
His name is Jesus! This mystery came not by my understanding. I was
11 years old and didn't really care what those holy rollers thought
God was. I was half listening, when it began to kind of sink in. It
was the first time I understood WHO and WHAT God was. Just making
the point that it ISN'T by our works! It is the work of Christ
REVEALING this to us!
Col:1:27: To whom _God_ would make known what is the riches of the
glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the
hope of glory:
YOU:
Jesus did not go around giving quizzes to people before he healed
them. He
simply stated, "Thy faith has made thee whole." We are getting to the
point
where we are basing our salvation on our OWN works, and not based
simply
on the Grace of God.
ME:
What we consider a work of righteousness is none of the such to God.
2Cor:7:10: For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
WORKETH? Repentance is a work? Yep. But it is a work made possible
by Jesus Christ!
Acts:26:20: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem,
and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles,
that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for
repentance.
YOU:
Am I saying that water baptism is erroneous? Not at all...not by a
long shot,
but I would not tell a person he is saved BECAUSE he does it just the
same as I
would not tell a person is is NOT saved because he does NOT do it.
ME:
At this point, instead of ASSUMING something, I'll ask a question.
Are you saying that a person can be saved yet not be baptized in
Jesus' name? And by the way, you are correct on the other part of
the statement that baptism doesn't encompass the fullness of
salvation, but it "doth _also_ now save us" (1Pet 3:24).

I affirm the biblical foundation for a relationship with God: We are
to turn away from doing wrong, be baptized in the name of Jesus in
accordance with scriptural examples, receive the marvelous gift of
the Holy Spirit, and embrace a daily walk with Him. (See Acts 2:38)
