No, I do not mean this.  I mean that God only promises to fill with the
Holy Ghost after repentance and baptism.  It is also scriptural to
recieve the Holy Ghost beforehand as in Acts 10:44-48. ( But it is not
promised.)

My husband and I both recieved the Holy Ghost before baptism.  I think in
many cases such as yours( where you were not allowed) and ours (where we
knew no different) and Cornelius' ( where they probably would've forbade
it) God will pour out His Spirit anyways.
