Question concerning "chewing the cud"

*Background info:* The Lord is giving the law to Moses. This
scripture comes from the part of the law referred to as "dietary."
The Lord has explained that the Israelites must only eat animals that
has a split hoof and chews the cud. (Referring to LAND animals).
The example of a camel is given; although it DOES chew the cud, it
doesn't have a split hoof and is therefore, unclean for the
Israelites.
*Text:* Leviticus 11:6 reads as follows....
"And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof;
he is unclean unto you."

NOW, for my question. The hare/rabbit, does not chew the cud. The
best definition for one who chews the cud is the following (My
version, of course): An animal that chews only with its molars and
does not have inscisors. After swallowing its food, it is
regurgitated for a second chewing and digestion. None of this fits
the rabbit. It has a pair of inscisors and molars. Its food is
digested through its one stomach much like our food is...in a simpler
form. Can anyone shed some light on the seemingly -error-?

I affirm the biblical foundation for a relationship with God: We are
to turn away from doing wrong, be baptized in the name of Jesus in
accordance with scriptural examples, receive the marvelous gift of
the Holy Spirit, and embrace a daily walk with Him. (See Acts 2:38)
