Brother shaw:
Save your keystrokes on the comparison between myself and Catholics.
I've no use for such rubbish. Being Apostolic will naturally cause
us
to identify with an Apostolic history and understanding of the New
Testament.
Bless you.
Bro. Matthew Shaw
ME:
I know amen posts aren't allowed, so, I'll just say "Hallelujah".
Although brother starcher seems to be revealing what he believes to
be "truth", his 'truth' indicates that what we believe to be truth
must be doubted or we are <Lord forbid> "Conservative Apostolics". I
have never seen someone contend for your faith as you have, brother
Starcher. It is very unique. In trying to promote unity with other
denominations (Which is very admirable, if you are building up, not
laying down), you have caused dis-unity between what you consider
Moderate and conservative Apostolics! The Apostles would turn over
in their graves! In the true Apostolic church, their is no doubt as
to what biblical salvation is. Although we are always "making our
calling and election sure", we are not doing extra-biblical worrying,
if you will. Although we are checking our lives and beliefs by the
word of God, we are not comparing our evangilism to that of other
organizations. Although we want to encompass the entire world with
the gospel of redemption, we are not inviting to world to encompass
the church with foreign ideas of "unity". Although we promote unity
with all peoples, we do not unite in their beliefs. Although we try
to reach-out to other churches with love and compassion, we do not
allow outreach to become that of falsehood and comprimise. Although
we realize the church is in need of external attitude adjustments, we
do not feel that this will come by changing the inward fundamental
beliefs in salvation and holiness. Although we want to present the
soft side of the gospel, we do recognize that our gospel is a bloody
gospel. Although we respect the right of others to beleive
differently, we do not recognize that right as an excuse for us to
embrace a gospel we know as false. Although we promote the
progressiveness of the peoples within the Apostolic church, we do not
believe that this means we should progress without the Lord. And
finally, although we recognize and respect that others within the
faith may have a different outlook on Christ and his work in their
lives, we do not try to obtain the identicle outlook and works. We
do not define them as a moderate Apostolic or as Conservative. We
(by this time, I guess I should say "I", but I'll go along with the
flow) believe that this demeans that will of God in their lives. We
feel that by doing this, we have divided our faith into one of
"Dynamic outreach and excitement" and "Standard doctrines, beliefs,
and respectable worship within our own ranks." This should not be
true, for I see the Apostolic church as a whole being "Dynamic in
doctrine, reaching out with its beliefs and having exciting worship
within our ranks and in the ranks of others." I hope I have not
inferred that Brother Starcher is not an Apostolic or is a member of
a false church. None of the above is true. I simply state that what
you perceive as "moderate" Apostolic Christians are nothing more or
less that a conservative. And that what you perceive as a lack of
outreach, may be a lack of comprimise with other doctrines. Yes/No?
(BTW, if brother starcher would like to reply, please do so in one
post without essays. I love your essays but I cannot absorb 6-7
pages of information. I printed the other articles but I think I
missed 1 or 2. thanks =>) God bless.
P.S. I realize that by saying "We" I might have offended someone.
But, I simply wanted to convey this is a clear manner. By saying "I",
the message would have been one of personal conviction, but I
believe it to be one of common concensus and aligning with the Word
of God. Thank you for excusing my we's. =->

I affirm the biblical foundation for a relationship with God: We are
to turn away from doing wrong, be baptized in the name of Jesus in
accordance with scriptural examples, receive the marvelous gift of
the Holy Spirit, and embrace a daily walk with Him. (See Acts 2:38)
