Absolutely. As this clearly and sadly illustrates, holding a more moderate
position on the new birth does not necessarily mean an absence of
judgmentalism and elitism. The argument for tolerance on this issue cuts
both ways.
I have not had time to adequately follow this thread, but please, if you
call people "Hecklers" that are not ashamed to stand up against those that
want to water down the necessity of the new birth as recorded in Acts 2:38,
please, by all means number me with the Hecklers!!! (Mike Reed, Las Vegas
NV.) Peter told all those present on the day of Pentecost to repent and be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS. If you don't
think that the remission of sins is absolutely essential for salvation, you
are deceived.
To me the word "moderate" implies someone with a stand somewhere in the
middle. On this issue there is no possible way to be a moderate, it is
polarizing, either you believe it or you don't.
