I don't understand what they are afraid of.  However they act, we must
only show them the warmth of God's love.  A few years ago my boss
asked me for a Bible study.  He listened to everything I had to say
throughout the study.  A few weeks after the study he came back to me
with questions.  When I say he came back to me - I mean he came
screaming back to me.  He called me all kinds of profane and insulting
words.  I did not try to rebuff him - I prayed against the spirits
that were tormenting him.  It was not more than three weeks later that
he was filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus name.

Be prepared to show those who persecute you the same love that Christ
showed you and I on the cross.  He did die for us while we were his
enemies.  We are no greater than our master.  Love worked for him -
love will work for us.
