Jesus said "my words they are spirit and they are life". The Bible is
accurate whether we have 'carnal' proof or not. Jesus said not one
word would fail. Have you ever put faith in a scripture???? i.e., My God
shall supply all of your need according to his riches in glory - and then
whatever that need was Jesus met it????? Faith comes by hearing and
hearing by the Word of God. You *need* the Bible because it is the good
seed. Whatever is planted will come up. The disciples preached from
the old testament scrolls. They preached Jesus by these scrolls and
then manifested the works of Christ.

>How can a man, alone on an island, without a bible obtain salvation?

If this man is truly searching for Jesus, just as Philip was sent to the
eunuch who was reading Isaiah, Jesus in these last days will be
translate his soldiers all over the world. A soul is precious. Christians in
the old testament received the word of God which was preached
through his prophets and thus when they fell asleep went to the holding
place in hell where those who believed the word waiting for Jesus to
come. When Jesus came, died, and was resurrected those saints also
appeared on the earth after Jesus' resurrection and ascended up into
heaven with him.

>The truth is, no one knows if the bible is accurate or not..... but it

The Bible *is* accurate. In order for the people to receive salvation on
the day of Pentecost, their hearts were pricked after, I repeat, *after*
Peter preached the word to them. They received the word and obeyed
it. If the Bible is not accurate then our faith is vain..... The people of
Cornelius' household heard the word Peter preached and were filled
with the Holy Ghost *before* baptism in water.

The disciples spent three and a half years with Jesus receiving his
word. He taught them out of the scriptures - Christ being the Word made
flesh. The disciples internalized these words and as Jesus prayed "I
have given them your words" and "they have received your words."
The disciples were inspired by the same Holy Ghost to pen these words
for us. Glory.

>Every major church claims to receive its doctrine from the bible.....

Claiming and actually preaching the doctrine of Christ and not the
doctrine of men can be seen by the fruit the church bears. Jesus told
the religious folks that the doctrines of men made the Word of God of
non-effect because these doctrines of men lacked faith, lacked the love
of God but were just rituals to pacify the flesh - dead letter which killed
the spirit man who was looking for life which can only be found in the
living word. [The word of God mixed with faith]

> First I found Jesus. Then I received the Holy Ghost. Then I discovered
>the bible...

Jesus tells us in his word - I have chosen you, you have not chosen me.
When you receive the Holy Ghost, you receive the Word made flesh.
The written Word is what the spirit man needs to be nourished on. Just
like a baby needs milk and then meat. Sooo is it with the spirit man.
When you are born in the Spirit, you must feed your spirit man spiritual
food. The Word of God is that spiritual food needed. The true Word of
God which isn't mixed with doctrines of men.

The Bible says the Holy Ghost reveals Christ. How can someone having
the Holy Ghost not have a desire for the Word??? Paul knew the
scriptures but was ignorant until Jesus met him on the road to Demacus.
Once he was born of the Spirit then the Holy Ghost lead him into a realm
in Christ that people could not understand. He had such a deep
revelation, those who didn't know the scriptures wrestled with these
words. In order to know something you need to study it. I cannot agree
that there is such a thing as Biblidolatry concerning the True Word of
God. How can you know Jesus Christ if you do not know his Word????
To say you have the Holy Ghost but don't need to study often, is like
saying in order to be a lawyer, you don't need to go to law school, you
just need to have a desire to practice law and then you can open up an
office and begin. You could have a desire to do many things and yet not
have obtain the skill to perform them. Jesus said he would give us the
will and the way to do of his good pleasure. Faith is not just what is
spoken by the mouth, but it is action. If I love Christ and want to know
him I will pray and read his word. I will buffet my body through fasting
so I can mortify the deeds of my body through the washing by the water
of the word.

Jesus give us specific instructions in 2 Tim 2:15 "Study to show thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth." In order for the elect not to be deceived, the
word will be the only thing to stand upon. You have to read and study
the Bible. In order to learn how to do anything you have to spend time
with it. Our relationship with Jesus is compared to that of a marriage. If
a husband and wife do not spend time together getting to know one
another then you don't have a marriage. You just have two people
co-existing in one house. Jesus doesn't want that. He want us to be
one with him. He even says "the two shall be come one flesh". To know
Christ is to know his Word. You cannot separate the Spirit and the
Word. They are one. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the
Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
