I have been reading so much on rings that I just HAD to put my two cents
in... I have a plain solitaire and there are roses engraved on the band.
My husband is wearing a matching ring that is a man's. Dan had our rings
engraved. In the wedding rings it says "friends in love" with our
initials. On my engagement ring is 1 John 4:7 "Beloved, let us love one
another ... " remember that one?? That is the only jewerly that either one
of us wears. I have a wedding book in which I typed out all the words that
were said in our ceremony.. We were BOTH water baptized in Jesus' name and
filled with the Holy Ghost at the time of our UPC wedding on August 8th,
1987.. Here is what our pastor said about our rings... "Dan, a ring is a
very precious thing. A token of your faith and of your love. This ring is
made of precious metal. It is a never ending circle that indicates the
continuing love of God and your love for Sarah. A love that never fails,
never presents itself haughty or puffed up. The love of god and the faith
of God. I want you to wear these rings as a continual reminder of your
faith that you have made to each other. The work of God says above all
take the shield of faith where with you shall be able to quench the firey
darts of the wicked one. If anyone could break up this union it would be
Satan so give him no place, give him no place. This is forever. This ring
will symbolize this. Take this ring and place it on her finger and say
after me... "With this ring, I thee wed. It is a token of my love and a
token of my faith that I release now in Jesus' name." A ring can mean two
different things. It can be a never ending sign of love or it can be a
shackle. I am going to charge you with a memory you should remember
always. Dan, this woman that stands by your side is by your side and not
under your feet. You have the responsibility of being the head of this
union. You have spiritual responsibility. I want you to wear this ring in
remembrance that she is your help meet. It must never be a shackle of
dominance but always a reminder of faith and love. I want you to place this
ring on his finger and as you do, say this to him... With this ring, I thee
wed. I give it as a token of my faith. I believe with all my heart that
this is forever. It is my love and my faith in the name of Jesus. We had
two songs sung at our Wedding.. "Together".... Before the world began, our
union was his plan.. our lonely days are gone.. together we'll be one. And
with your hand in mine we'll stand the test of time and through our darkest
nights.. the Lord will be our light.. and we will Stay together, Pray
together, bound by a love from God in heaven above.. yielding our lives
into his hands of love!" The other song was House Hold of Faith... "We'll
build a household of faith that together we can make and when the strong
winds blow it won't fall down. As one in him we'll grow and the whole
world will know.. We are a house hold of faith..."
