That's right. And it holds pretty much for what ever it's being
applied to. What's the *core* attitude of that thing that you're
engaging in? The OT says, "thou shall not kill." Jesus said (and I'm
paraphrasing) "If you *hate* your brother, you've already committed
murder." The OT says, "Thou shall not commit adultery." Jesus said
(another paraphrase) "If you look on a woman (for us guys - or a "man"
for you gals) with lust in your heart, then you've already committed
adultery."

Apply this to many evils of the world. Money by itself isn't evil.
It's the *love* of money where people get in trouble. Drugs... sometimes
necessary to help with this or that medical situations. Some people abuse
drugs and medication to the point where they become addicted. Good in
it's original purpose. Bad when in over-moderation. Sex... an honorable
thing between a man and wife. But there are those that pervert it. The
whore, whoremonger, incestor, adulteror, fornicator, etc.. Those "non-
honorable" forms of the original have different motives for engaging in
that activity. Probably the same could be said for TV as well. One of
the more innovative and powerful devices to spread a messaage every
invented. Can you imagine what would happen if there was a 24-hr Oneness
Apostolic Cable TV channel where all you could here is the great messages
delivered like we enjoy in the campmeetings and home churches? Instead,
there's more sex, violence, and other things that numb the mind. Just
like drugs, people are addicted to their TV's. Anything in abuse isn't
good.

I mean, does the "thing" in question (habbit, item, practice, exercise,
etc.) control you, or do you "control" it?

It's the *spirit* of the law that counts. The letter of the law drags
the person towards the spirit of it. Sometimes people just don't see
the spirit of the law in the word. They can only see the "thou shall's"
and "thou shall not's."
