Sis Lynn spake well:

My pastor (Bro. John Koonce) said that when he was a child in the
public school system, other students would ask him "What do you believe in?
What do you do?" Instead of a much learned and wise answer these days that
he'd give, back then in his grade school years he say something like: "Well,
you can't do this, and can't do that, and can't do this other thing, and
can't ....." To the others ouside of the faith it became John's religion
became a list of "can" and "can't do's (primarily)." He realized after he
did this a few times that to them, our faith was just a list of rules that
you abide by. Sad to say, when you look *only* towards the outward appearance,
it is still that way as "a list of rules."
I well know that what's on the inside is reflected on what is on the outside.
I don't think anybody is *ever* taken aside to tell them to do this or that.
The concept we use is to let God do the work on them as the need arises.
