Great question about beards. Here is my attempt at answering
it with what I have learned. When we go into the church to
worship God, we are suppose to be Holy. Now if we were to break
this word Holy down, somewhere along the line you would come across
something about being clean. (im wandering around left field for
this answer if you can't tell..bare with me ;) )
Now....I have always been taught to look my best when I go to church
because of a respect like nature to God. But as I learn now,
the beard started out as a rebellious thing. Look at men
in the work place.
Ok..to make a long story short...when you are in the
armed forces, they want you to look clean cut and at your
best. This means no facial hair, etc. If you want to make
an analogy of the armed forces and church we can see that we
are to go into the church like we are being presented to
our commanding officer.
(ok...choppy answer, I bounced around a little bit..but now here
is a question for you..)
If your pastor preaches against a beard, facial hair, etc and
you go and grow one anyways, isnt this being rebellious?
We are not suppose to be rebellious in nature so in turn
this could be a bad thing. Bottom line and this would go
for anybody and all standards of any church....if you cannot
agree with your pastors standards, then you need to do one of
2 things, either agree with them, or go somewhere where you can
agree.
