For all those discussing holiness issues, my pastor (Bro. Blankenship) has
written an excellent study (Because We Are His) regarding such issues and
has made it available via the internet. You can find it at:

http://www.upci.org/aupc/bwah/

You can download text or Word 6.0 copies of these studies on this page as well.

Churches all over have began to use it as a teaching class/session with
great results.

The biggest problem with holiness issues that see is when new converts come
into the church and we; being so 'self-righteous', try to force holiness
issues on them without them getting the conviction from God for themselves.
I grew up in a church that did that and I found out that when I was older I
did not have a foundation for any of my beliefs; I just did it because the
church told me to. However, I found as I got older that I could not justify
my beliefs (according to anything I had learned) and my answer of "Because
It's against my Religion" just did not work anymore. It made me question
everything I had ever believed.

I know that we must teach new converts what the bible says regarding
holiness, but I don't personally think that we should force it on them or
regard them as "less Spirit-filled saints" just because they haven't
received the revelation yet.

If we force convictions on people then we are giving them a foundation built
on sand. And we all know what happens to such houses when the winds begin to
blow.

May I also inject that just because we may have a conviction of something
that it doesn't make it a conviction that is written in stone for everyone
else. Some convictions are PERSONAL and deal with individual
issues/problems. My advise is to listen to your pastor, obey what standards
he puts forth and then if God gives additional convictions then we must obey
them also.
