Regarding Holiness Issues

Holiness issues are some of the most vital in the church of today.
People claiming Christianity many times look like, act like, smell like
and in most areas of life *imitate* the world.
Sis. Coleen's commentary is one of the better ones I have seen. It is
not based on rhetoric, but common sense with a Biblical basis.
>The biggest problem with holiness issues that see is when new converts
come
>into the church and we; being so 'self-righteous', try to force holiness
issues on them >without them getting the conviction from God for
themselves.
>snip<
>I know that we must teach new converts what the bible says regarding holiness, but I >don't personally think that we should force it on them or
regard them as "less >Spirit-filled saints" just because they haven't
received the revelation yet.
>snip<
> My advise is to listen to your pastor, obey what standards he puts
forth <snip>.

My only other comment is to disagree in principle, but not in spirit,
with the last statement I copied in this reply. I fully concur with
listening to one's pastor, and that the pastor is God's gift to the church. *But* I am against *blindly* following anyone. Gospel preachers
have fallibilities just like everyone else. Therefore, listening and following must be based upon that pastor preaching the _WORD_ of God and
not convictions which can be supported by the Word, without having to twist that Word.

I suppose I am adamant about this after hearing a visting preacher preach
for two hours against women shaving their legs. He did this without
giving a *single* verse of scripture to back his position. What a
waste!
Afterward the people of the congregation were thrilled with the message.
By their fruits, ye shall know them. That church was doing nothing for
Jesus. No converts in over five years, no giving to missions, no
nothing. They were a perfect picture of "dry dead bones" that only God
knows if they will live again.

Time is too short to major in minors.

Jesus is Lord! He's coming soon! His blood still cleanses from sin!
He still baptizes in the Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost still leads into
all truth! Let Him be the message.

Thank you Sis Coleen for some lucid comments on the propagation of
holiness. One final thought. Instead of forcing convictions on new
converts, whatever happened to fasting and praying that they might
receive revelation? Or did Jesus quit answering prayer and someone
forgot to notify the His Church!
