Beards and such..

I looked for a Biblical response about beards and this is what
was told to me by a preacher who preaches against them...
He commented that the reason Jesus had a beard at the time of
crucifiction(..they plucked at this beard..) was the fact that
he was held captive by them for several days.  If you were to go
without shaving for several days, you to would most likely have
a beard of some sort.  Jesus was not a levite so he was not commaned
to have a beard either.  A second thought brought to me was 
I Cor 11.  I read this myself but really do not see anything
of that sort except for the hair issue. UNLESS...you look at the
idea of not to have the "head" covered.  It *could* mean not just
the top of the head but the face too.  I do not know, I just tryed
to see how I cor 11 had to do with it as this preacher told me.
