I read where someone posted once.. "where is that fine line" of what is
acceptable and what is not concerning Holiness standards. I don't think we,
as the individuals we are, will ever fully agree together on all the issues
that fall into this category. We have so many different views and the
definition of what is BALANCE is different in each person's eyes. The church
that I grew up in did not believe in any of the following:
short sleeves, jewelry (including wedding rings), makeup, ladies cutting
hair, men having facial hair, colored pantyhose, hair bows, etc.

To some, our church then would have seemed unbalanced, and near cultic. I
have been in many churches since then and in each place the standards
enforced have varied. What becomes hard is when you move from different
churches and your views on what exactly IS HOLINESS gets challenged all over
again. Sometimes we take our convictions and in an effort to 'prove' to
others that our decisions are right and biblically based we can become like
a serpent biting our own kind. We tend to start judging and we look at our
brother through the eyes of 'self-righteousness'; condemning what he
believes to be right because it is not always inline with our own beliefs.

I do believe that there are things that are written in stone regarding
Holiness issues with God. But I also believe that sometimes we enforce
standards that have been tainted with the colors of time, locality,
personality, tradition and just plain 'RELIGION'. I believe that if a person
will truly seek God for the convictions that HE desires for their life, and
then follows them, then the convictions that each of us will hold will
become a firm foundation for our lives. Not every foundation is shaped the
same, or is the same color but one thing for sure, most everyone is CONCRETE.
