As everyone can see by the many postings about music lately
that everyone has a different opinion and or personal convictions.
My opinion differs from Bro so and so or sis somebody agrees.
The bottom line that has been mentioned a few times is we all need
to seek God for the answers if there is no specific answer coming
from your pastor. As for me, I have taken the music standard to
a higher level in my own life. Why? Because as I was growing
up, I listened to the worst of the "wordly" stuff. NWA,
Public Enemy, 2 live crew, anything that has "shock" value
to the adult world, I listened to. What do I see as I look back
on my life? Rebellion. I listened to this behind my parents
back and did it because the the majority was against it.
One day as I listened to 2 live crew, one of the songs had
this statement, "we are disciples of satan, with work to do.."
I didnt think about it at the time but it came to me the day
I *trashed* all my wordly tapes. So many of the wordly groups
*are* disciples of satan whether they realize it or not. As
I tread a arguementable line here, even some of the christian
groups today are acting as disciples of satan. How you ask?
What is the main goal of these christian artist who go on to
secular stations? No, it is not to reach the lost.
Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, Jars of Clay, all have songs
played on the secular stations but none of the songs even
hint of God or salvation. They do it for good ol' money.
They are in it for something other than God's work.
When people lose sight of why they are doing this, I can
see where money becomes the root of all evil.
These reasons are just a few of the reasons why *I* do not
listen to wordly or so called "christian" groups or singers.
as mentioned earlier, it is all a personal opinion or
conviction.
