Subject: Intercessory Prayer for a Dear Friend
One of our faculty, a dear friend, Diane Essex-Sorlie, (Amy, you and Tim
know Diane) is very sick. She has Crohn's disease. This past spring she
had surgery to remove scar tissue, and has not really regained any measure
of good health since then. She developed complications from that surgery
and is in immeasurable pain and discomfort. Her husband, Bill Sorlie, had
to take her back to the hospital again yesterday because the pain became too
much to bear. They are going to try to build her up nutritionally this week
and will do surgery next week. I know what she is going through and the
memory of my own pain and suffering makes me empathize with her to the point
that I ache inside. Loneliness overwhelms you when you are that sick
because even though loved ones are there, they cannot possibly understand or
touch your pain. PLEASE PRAY FOR DIANE and ask your friends and church
families to pray for her that God will alleviate her pain, that He will give
peace and calm to her weary body, mind and spirit and that He will give
wisdom to her nurses and doctor, Dr. Tangen, who was also my doctor.
Actually Dr. Tangen is just now assuming her care. He is an excellent
doctor, but please pray that the Great Physician will give this good
physician an added measure of wisdom to know exactly what to do in Diane's
case. And PLEASE PRAY FOR HER HUSBAND, BILL, who is one of our Associate
Deans in the College. Amy and Leslie can tell you how hard it is to stand
by helplessly and watch as someone you love agonizes and you can do nothing
about it (right Amy?) Bill's pain and suffering compares with hers on a
different level, I am sure.
Thank you each one for your prayers on their behalf. They are both dear to
me and to our Heavenly Father.
Thanks. Toni
