Hello.... yup they sure are...
Please remember that the H-F list is a moderated list. Meaning that
each and every message needs the *approval* or *discard* sent back into
the listproc before they are distributed to everybody or ZOTTED.
Oftentimes during the weekends, there's no moderators around to officially
APPROVE or DISCARD the message. So... you have to wait until Monday morning
sometime before getting the first post after the weekend.
Sometimes during the weekends, I'm are able to perform light moderation
duties (in what I'd call *skim* mode). But not every weekend. I think
that yesterday (Sunday) I was logged in twice to try and catch up on all the
email since late Wednesday night (383 pieces of email!) that I hadn't gotten
to yet. Then last night (another 70+ pieces!) to finish off what had
accumulated. But, I have to admit when I'm not at work sitting at a desk
pouring over each word, sentence, & paragraph of each post notification
things don't get combed through as thoroughly as I would if I were sitting
at work doing the same thing. Hence the *MISTAKE* in allowing the post of
the elderly lady with the too much laxatives in prep for surgery to go through.
I admit to not reading the whole story before letting it go through. My
current setting of *skim* mode didn't catch the inpropriety. I have to admit
I had to go back and read the *whole* post again to find the offending parts.
After having done so, I realize that it probably shouldn't have been distribbed
to the subscribers. This would have been better distributed through private
e-mail for those that want a copy of it.
Also... after reviewing it, though the situation wasn't funny when it was
happening (and even quite grave) I can still see the humor of the situation
when it's reflected back on from the nurses (and other workers) that were
there. I can just imagine them reflecting back on old times when they might
not have been wise to certain things recalling the mess and odor that resulted
in administering a heavy dosage(s) of laxatives to an elderly woman prior to
surgery and how it seems like the mess cleaned up was potentially *more* than
the elderly lady could have contained with her small stature. Then I can see
how they might say something like: "I'm still surprised when we did that
*stunt*, with the old gal back then, that we didn't completly empty her out
leaving a pile of skin in the bed." I can just see it, and imagine it.
It still probably shouldn't have made it to the list.... *MY BAD*
Please forgive me.
